Planters International Berhad at the Official Launch of IGEM 2024: Celebrating 15 Years of Green Innovation
10th October 2024, Kuala Lumpur – Today, the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2024 kicked off in grand style at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Planters International Berhad was honored to be present during the official launch, having been invited by our esteemed partner, the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). The event celebrates an incredible milestone—15 years of IGEM, earning it a place in the Malaysia Book of Records as the Longest Running Green Technology Exhibition in Malaysia.
We take this opportunity to congratulate MGTC for their dedication and success in co-organizing IGEM year after year. Their relentless pursuit of green innovation and sustainability has made IGEM the leading platform in Southeast Asia for green technologies and eco solutions, and we are proud to have witnessed their journey toward achieving this incredible feat.
Race Towards Net Zero: Regional Leadership for Climate Urgency
This year's theme, "Race Towards Net Zero: Regional Leadership for Climate Urgency", reflects the urgency of the global climate crisis and Malaysia's leadership in tackling these challenges head-on. With a three-day event showcasing up to 480 exhibition booths, IGEM24 brings together industry leaders, ministers, agencies, state governments, international embassies, high commissions, universities, start-ups, and NGOs under one roof to share ideas, forge new collaborations, and showcase the latest in green innovations.
The official launch began with welcoming remarks from YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, followed by an inspiring Opening Speech from YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy. Both ministers emphasized the importance of climate action and the role of technology in driving Malaysia towards its Net Zero ambitions.
IGEM has been a significant driver for green business opportunities, generating RM 53.1 billion in business leads since its inception in 2010. This year, IGEM24 is expected to generate RM 4.8 billion in business leads, with 48,000 registered visitors and representatives from 48 countries attending the event.
mobilityX – Shaping the Future of Clean Mobility in Asia
One of the highlights of IGEM24 is the mobilityX feature, a special showcase aimed at shaping the future of clean mobility in Asia. With the tagline "Shape the Future of Clean Mobility in Asia", mobilityX focuses on clean energy vehicles, including electric trucks, and demonstrates how innovation in transportation can contribute to reducing carbon emissions. This complements IGEM’s broader goals of advancing sustainable solutions across various sectors.
Celebrating Regional Leadership in Green Innovation
As IGEM enters its 15th year, its ambition for the next 15 years is to solidify its position as the foremost Greentech and Cleantech Exhibition and Summit in Asia. This mirrors Malaysia’s proactive stance on climate change, showcasing its leadership in sustainable development and its commitment to achieving net zero emissions.
We are thrilled to be part of this journey and to contribute to the ongoing conversations and collaborations that will help shape a greener future for Malaysia and the region. Our congratulations once again to MGTC on the successful launch of IGEM24 and on this outstanding recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records.
Planters International Berhad is excited to continue working with MGTC and other partners to push the envelope in sustainable innovation and green technology solutions, contributing to our shared goals of climate action and environmental stewardship.
The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2024) will run from 9th to 11th October 2024 at KLCC. We encourage all stakeholders, industry leaders, and green innovators to visit the event, explore groundbreaking innovations, and be part of the change.
